Winston K. Howell,
Managing Partner and Tax Director

Winston has over 25 years of experience in providing
auditing, accounting, tax, consulting, and general
business advice to clients in a number of
industries. In his capacity as Managing Partner,
Winston oversees all the administrative
responsibilities of the Firm. In his capacity as Tax
Director, Winston performs business and individual
tax consulting in a variety of industries including
business mergers and acquisitions, IRS examinations
and appeals, business succession, planned giving,
retirement planning, compensation planning, estate
tax planning, structuring family limited
partnerships and limited liability companies.
Winston is the co-author of “Tools for CPAs” and a
frequent speaker for continuing education courses.
Winston has been certified by the Florida Department
of Revenue as an expert in sales and use tax (CFST).
Additionally, he has received the AICPA Certificate
of Educational Achievement (CEA) in business
valuations. |

John Perry Thomas,
Audit Partner and Director of Quality Control

John has over 35 years of experience in providing
personalized accounting, auditing and consulting
services to a significant number of clients in
various industries. His clients have ranged from
some of the largest and most well-established
organizations to newly formed “start-up” entities.
The breadth of John’s experience is extensive. He
has served trade associations, guaranty funds,
insurance trust funds, healthcare organizations,
charitable organizations, state government, finance
agencies, JUAs, and residual market entities. In
addition, he has provided a wide range of services
including audits, special reviews, systems
consulting, compliance reviews, corporate
financings, internal control reviews, strategic
planning and a host of other services that have
expanded his ability to bring value added benefits
to an engagement. John also leads our litigation
support practice. |

William A. Ferguson,
Audit Partner and Director of Audit

Bill has over 25 years of experience serving a
variety of clients with a significant concentration
on insurance companies and other insurance-related
enterprises and not-for-profit entities. He serves
as the Firm’s Director of Audit and has been
instrumental in developing our Insurance Services
Group. His role in the Insurance Services Group is
to coordinate services provided and ensure
engagement objectives are accomplished within
established timeframes. He has specific experience
with insurance clients that include assistance in
designing and implementing accounting systems,
preparing multi-year business plans, resolving
financial regulatory issues, acquisitions, internal
control reviews, structuring reinsurance programs
and reinsurance accounting. He also plays a
significant role in the not-for-profit arena where
he has provided similar services. |

James A. (Andy)
Gray, Partner

 |
Andy has over 17 years of experience in providing
tax, accounting, general business, and employee
benefit plan consulting to a variety of clients.
These engagements have included clients in the
insurance, not-for-profit, construction,
manufacturing, and professional services industry.
The majority of his time is spent consulting in the
insurance industry on tax and insurance industry
matters.
Andy assists nonprofit clients with tax planning
strategies including unrelated business income
issues, royalty contracts, lobbying, PAC’s,
affiliated group planning, executive compensation,
and retirement planning.
Andy is a frequent speaker for various groups
related to Federal Tax updates, use of for-profit
subsidiaries, unrelated business income, lobbying
expenses, executive compensation and insurance tax
matters. |

Deborah (Debie)
Leonard, Tax Partner

 |
Debie has over 20 years of experience in providing
tax, accounting, and business advisory services to a
variety of individuals, small businesses, estates,
trusts, not-for-profit associations, political
organizations, and charitable foundations. Selected
responsibilities include planning, review of tax
returns, research on tax engagements and special
projects. She has been involved in the preparation
of applications for exempt status, representation
before the IRS, income tax planning strategies,
personal financial planning, estate planning,
charitable planned giving, and retirement planning. |

Jeff Barbacci, Audit Partner |

Jeff has over 14 years of experience working with a
variety of clients. Specific industries include
not-for-profit organizations, real estate
management, condominium and timeshare associations,
small business, and state and local government.
Jeff has dedicated the last ten years of his career
towards specializing in government and
not-for-profit consulting and auditing. He has
developed an excellent understanding of internal
control, compliance and regulatory issues,
accounting and reporting issues, compliance
auditing, functional reporting and cost allocations
specific to these industries. He has also developed
skills specifically directed at strategic planning
and benchmarking for not-for-profit organizations.

Canita Peterson, Tax Partner |

Canita has over 12 years of experience in providing
consulting, tax and accounting services. She serves
a wide variety of business and individual clients
with respect to federal as well as state and
multi-state taxation. In addition, she has been
involved in mergers and acquisitions, litigation
support services, IRS examinations, and
representation and examinations related to various
state tax issues. She holds the Certified Florida
Sales and Use Tax (CFST) designation and has
provided sales tax consulting services related to
compliance and reporting solutions for many
different industries. |
