The City of Tallahassee is really one of a kind.  Located in Florida’s “Big Bend,” Tallahassee is home to both old and new, traditional and modern.  Historic antebellum homes, spirited nightlife, and numerous other activities all but enhance the capital city’s allure to the young and the wise.  As the pulse of the Sunshine State, Tallahassee operates at a Fortune 500 pace where one will always find time for a glass of sweet iced tea.

After work, there are various ways to unwind.  With over a hundred restaurants specializing in many different cuisines, you won’t need to drive far to find somewhere to dine.  After dessert, go and experience the entertainment that Tallahassee’s entertainment scene has to offer: live music, dancing, sporting events, etc….  Go to a movie at one of our six theaters, including an IMAX, or take in a show at the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center.  Alternatively, if you want to get away from the crowds and spend a quiet night at home, you can. Tallahassee may be a city on the map, but it lives and breathes like a small town. 

Tallahassee is home to numerous education facilities, including Florida State University and Florida A&M University.  For the avid college football fan, the fall in Tallahassee is full of football and tailgating.  However, the universities do not only bring sporting events to Tallahassee, they also bring music and arts.   Florida State University is home to one of the top ten theatre programs in the United States and, with three theatres on campus, there will be plenty of opportunities.  At Florida A&M University, you will find one of the nation’s best music programs with the world renowned FAMU Concert Choir, Gospel Choir, and the Marching “100” Band.  Between the two schools, there are over 400 music and art performances a year.  Additionally, Tallahassee’s K-12 schools receive constant recognition in response to education excellence.

For our history buffs, Tallahassee offers a fascinating array of museums and plantations.  The Museum of Florida History features Florida’s heritage and culture with exhibits at five different sites throughout Tallahassee, as well as boasting a full-operation zoo.  Outside of Tallahassee, Pebble Hill plantation, a pre-Civil War cotton plantation, hosts tours of both the house and grounds.  There are many more historical attractions in and around Tallahassee, including the Tallahassee Antique Car Museum.

For you outdoor enthusiasts, there is plenty to do.  You can pick up a game of disc-golf at Tom Brown Park or take an evening walk around the fountain at Lake Ella.  In addition, try visiting Wakulla Springs, one of the world’s largest and deepest freshwater springs, and Tallahassee’s own Maclay Gardens, where you can picnic, canoe on the lake, or just enjoy their award winning gardens.  If you don’t mind a little travel, on a warm day drive to beach as the Gulf of Mexico and all its splendor is only an hour away.
