Staying Connected

Regular office meetings, firm retreats, and ongoing participation in industry events and professional organizations are just a few of the ways we stay interconnected.  When you, your colleagues, and the firm succeed, everybody knows about it.

Given the size of the firm, our membership in RSM McGladrey International, and the need to share information, ideas, and best practices, we maintain a state-of-the-art IT system. You will have a PC (and/or laptop) in order to stay connected with your colleagues and counterparts.

Paperless environment

 In a paperless environment, you will help provide fast-paced, quality client service by navigating cutting-edge audit and tax software packages, researching real time virtual libraries, and exchanging with online communities.  Many firms claim to operate in a "paperless" environment; however, many times this just means they use less paper than before.  When THF converted to a paperless environment in the fall of 2004, we effectively converted to a virtual office environment.  Work papers and all necessary documentation collected are not kept in a physical file room, but are rather secured in searchable digital libraries that are accessible through the convenience of an encrypted Internet connection.  By capitalizing on technology, THF has fostered the ideal paperless environment and has redefined the ability to work remotely.

 Alternative Work Arrangements

THF offers all employees the benefit of alternative work arrangements.  At THF, we have found that our team is most efficient when team members attain their desired work/life balance.  We are all professionals and certainly understand that the traditional 8-hour day/40-hour week may not be the best arrangement for everyone.  Our goal is to offer our employees the flexible scheduling necessary to achieve the superior client service for which we are known.

Travel Opportunities

Although we are physically located in Tallahassee, we serve clients throughout the eastern United States, from as far north as Rhode Island to as far west as Louisiana.  As a THF professional, you will have many opportunities to work on THF’s local/regional/national clients, which will at times require flexibility regarding scheduling and travel.  Therefore, if you like to travel, then consider it a perk!

 

 

Social Activities

 The Synergy Committee was created for employees, because THF believes that synergy is one of the keys to a successful firm. The committee is responsible for planning social events that provide THF employees with opportunities to build stronger intra-office relationships, such as:

Jean/Denim Days

Several times a year, THF employees contribute money to a local charity in exchange for the privilege of wearing jeans/denim to the office. 

Casino Night

In July, the Synergy Committee arranged a casino at the Capital City Country Club.  Black Jack, Craps, Roulette, and Poker were the games for the evening, with plenty of food and drinks to go around.  For entertainment, a live DJ and Karaoke for those brave enough.  All employees were given chips and, at the end of the evening, the chips were exchanged for tickets that were put into a drawing for prizes.

Tailgate Parties

What would life in Tallahassee be like without celebrating college football?  Here at THF, we do this in the traditional method, tailgating. On Fridays, before Florida State home games, THF gathers for lunch in the parking lot. Lunch is catered by various restaurants throughout the season, and all employees get together to enjoy the food and camaraderie and support their football team of choice. (Contrary to popular belief, not everyone in Tallahassee is a Seminole fan; some people even root for that team in Gainesville.)

                 

 

Quarterly Staff Forum – At the quarterly staff forum, employees are given updates from each committee and industry group. New policies are reviewed, discussed, and distributed. The staff is encouraged to ask questions related to any topic or any “rumors” they may have heard. This is our way to ensure that we maintain open communication.

 

Annual Firm Meeting – At the annual firm meeting, employees are given a “state of the firm” address from the Managing partner. We review our goals for the coming year and talk about any firm wide changes.

 

Winter Holiday Party  

In December, the THF Synergy Committee sponsored a themed party at Pebble Hill Plantation. The most recent theme was "The Cowboy Grille." Cowboy hats and bandannas were provided for all guests.  Dinner was catered by the Cowboy Grill and s’mores for dessert.  Karaoke was available for those willing to sing a song or two.
